The term Smart Home is on everyone’s lips, and nowadays it is very easy and inexpensive to create a smart home. Thanks to smartphones and smart speakers for voice control, we can control a large part of our home and create tasks and routines that make our daily lives easier.

That’s why we have created MAUI, the smart ceiling fan that you can control via a simple app or voice commands. It is compatible with the “Smart Life” app (available on iOS and Android), and with Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices. Below, we explain step by step the synchronisation and configuration process with these apps.

Synchronise and configure Smart Life

Whether you want to control your fan via your smartphone or by voice commands, the first thing you need to do is to synchronise it with the Smart Life app. You will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Download and install the app on your mobile device.
  2. Access the app and, if you don’t already have one, create a user account by following the steps indicated.
  3. Once you are registered, log in to your account.
  4. Press the “Add device” button on the main screen.
  5. Turn off the power to the fan and after a few seconds turn it back on.
  6. On the fan controller, press the “ON/OFF fan” button two short presses and one long press until you hear the signal coming from the fan.
  7. On your mobile phone, click on the “Appliances” tab in the app and select the “Fan” option.
  8. Connect your Wi-Fi network to the app by entering the password.
  9. Select the “Restart device” option so that the app synchronises with the ventilator and wait a few seconds while the connection between the devices is established.
  10. The paired ventilator device will appear on your screen.
  11. You can now control your ventilator via the app.

Synchronise and configure Amazon Alexa

Now that you have your fan synchronised with the Smart Life app on your smartphone, you can create a link to other apps for control via smart speakers. One of the best known is the Alexa system, created by Amazon. To create the link between your smart speakers and your fan, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa App previously installed on your mobile phone.
  2. Access the app and, if you don’t already have one, create a user account by following the steps indicated.
  3. Once inside, go to the menu and click on the “Add device” option.
  4. Add your smart speaker by selecting the model and following the steps indicated in the app.
  5. Activate the configuration mode by pressing the corresponding button on your speaker and follow the steps indicated.
  6. Connect your Wi-Fi network to the app by entering the password.
  7. Add the location where the speaker is located in your home.
  8. Access the menu and click on “Skills and games”.
  9. Using the magnifying glass button, find the “Smart life” skill and click on “Allow use” to link the APP with Alexa.
  10. Log in with your Smart Life app username and password to give your Alexa device access to the Smart Life app.
  11. Access the “Devices” section where the fan and light will appear as separate devices.
  12. You can now control your fan via the Amazon Alexa app or via voice control.
Voice commands with Alexa

You can control the fan using voice commands such as those shown below:

  • Alexa, turn on the fan.
  • Alexa, set the fan to speed 1 (2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.).
  • Alexa, set the fan to level 1 (2, 3, 4, etc.).
  • Alexa, increase the fan (to maximum).
  • Alexa, decrease the fan (to minimum).
  • Alexa, turn off the fan.

 

  • Alexa, turn on the light.
  • Alexa, dim the light (to minimum, 20%, 50%, etc.).
  • Alexa, set light to level 1 (2, 3, 4, etc.).
  • Alexa, increase/raise light (maximum, 50%, 70%, etc.).
  • Alexa, turn off the light.

Synchronise and configure Google Home

If, on the other hand, you have a Google Home control system in your home, you will need to follow the steps below:

  1. Download and install the app on your mobile device.
  2. Access the app and, if you do not already have one, create a user account by following the steps indicated.
  3. Click on the “Connect Smart Life” button on the main screen.
  4. Sign in with your Smart Life app username and password to give your Google Home device access to the Smart Life app.
  5. Add the devices you want to link, add the light and the fan as two separate items and select their location in the home.
  6. Go to “Settings” and click on the “Rooms and devices” option.
  7. Click on “Other content delivery devices” and select the location of the devices to establish the connection.
  8. You can now control your fan via the Amazon Alexa app or via voice control.
Voice commands with Google Home

You can control the fan using voice commands such as those shown below:

  • Ok Google, turn on the fan.
  • Ok Google, set the fan to speed 1 (2, 3, 4, etc.).
  • Ok Google, turn the fan off.

 

  • Ok Google, turn on the light.
  • Ok Google, turn the light up to maximum.
  • Ok Google, turn the light off.

 

  • Ok Google, turn on the light and the fan.
  • Ok Google, turn off the light and the fan.
